I am fortunate to work with an exceptional staff that works hard every day to ensure Doña Ana County residents receive the services they deserve.”
Accomplishments of the County Clerk’s office under Amanda's Leadership
- Advocating for and receiving 6 full-time positions to serve constituents and maintain staffing for over 2 years.
- Lobbying for and securing more than 3 million dollars in capital outlay funds for a new elections warehouse
- Increased digitization of historical and public records
- Full remodel of office to improve safety and security
- Increased pay for election officials
- Advocating and testifying in support of pro-voter legislation
- Building a strong civics presence in school districts throughout Doña Ana County
- Elected to and serve on the New Mexico Counties(NMC) Executive Board
- Appointed to the Voting Security Certification Committee (VSCC)
- Represent New Mexico to the Federal Election Advisory Council
- Created a podcast, YouTube page, and expansion of our social media communications to increase access

Trusted Experience
- Elected to serve on the New Mexico Counties(NMC) Executive Board. Elected by Doña ANa County elected officials as the representative for Doña Ana County to the NMC Executive Board, Clerk López Askin advocates for the unique needs of each constituent in Doña Ana County.
- Selected by New Mexico Secretary of State, Maggie Toulouse Oliver, to serve as the representative for New Mexico to the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) on the Local Leadership Council. The EAC is an independent, bipartisan commission tasked by the Federal Governemnt to assist election officials with improving the administration of elections and help Americans participate in the voting process. As a member of the Local Leadership Council of the EAC, Clerk López Askin represents New Mexico as an Election Administrator and provides direct feedback and recommendations to the EAC.
- Appointed by The New Mexico Senate Pro Tem to serve on the Voting Security Certification Committee (VSCC). As a member of the Voting Security Certification Committee, Clerk López Askin, along with the other committee members, makes recommendations to the Secretary of State on the use of voting systems in the conduct of elections under the New Mexico Election Code and to recommend certification to the New Mexico Secretary of State.
More about Amanda
Amanda has a long history of volunteerism and advocacy work for children, students, and animal welfare. Currently, is a member of the International Women’s Forum, a network of highly accomplished women who are committed to making positive change in their communities throughout New Mexico. She previously served as a Regent for the New Mexico State University Board of Regents and as a board member for La Piñon, Action Program for Animals, Children’s Trust Fund of New Mexico, and the Suicide Prevention Task Force.
Amanda is a graduate of Oñate High School. She received three degrees from New Mexico State University including a Ph.D. in a leadership based program.
Her proudest achievement is being the mother to an eight-year-old daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and watching her daughter play softball and soccer on her local teams.
About Caroline Zamora
Caroline Zamora has been the Chief Deputy County Clerk since November 2022. Caroline was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She graduated from Mayfield High School and is an alumnus of New Mexico State University with degrees in psychology and communication. She is involved in many civic and volunteer-based organizations such as the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce as the Past-Chair of the Ambassadors, Las Cruces Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Amigos – Chamber Ambassador, a board member for the Doña Ana County Humane Society, and more.
